Client is a world leader in the management and distribution of print and related offerings is seeking an experienced HR Manager for its Mt. Pleasant, PA location.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Partners with line management to understand business needs; implements and administers human resource programs to maximize the strategic use of human resources and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and legal requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Confers with management and supervisors to identify personnel needs. Reviews applications and interviews applicants to screen and refer qualified candidates for additional interviews. Writes and places job advertising in various media, and coordinates the internal job posting procedure. Ensures reference and background checks and drug screen tests are completed for all new hires.
Manages relationships with temporary employment vendors to source, identify, recruit and pay a flexible labor pool to meet production demands. Reviews fee schedules, replacement policies to ensure compliance with contractual agreements.
Develops and maintains relationships with the management team and employees to understand current and future business needs and the ongoing concerns of the employee population.
Conducts investigations of complex and non-routine employee relations issues to analyze issues, identify possible violations and develop appropriate resolutions. Ensures effective documentation of disciplinary action.
Formulates the company response to employment-related legal actions and works with outside legal counsel as needed.
Advises managers on organizational policy matters. Provides coaching and counseling to managers, supervisors and employees on effective techniques for handling sensitive and performance-related problems.
Works with corporate HR to coordinate external recruiters, recruit managerial staff, administer benefits, track employee leaves, and administer performance management initiatives.
Assesses needs, develops, conducts and/or facilitates training to instruct facility managers, supervisors and employees in human relations issues such as supervisory skills, conflict resolution, interpersonal communication and effective group interaction.
Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitudes toward organizational objectives.
Ensures that company employment, personnel and equal opportunity practices comply with the applicable provisions of federal and state labor laws.
Reviews and submits personnel changes to payroll. Verifies that all paperwork is complete and ensures data is accurate in the human resources information system.
Conducts exit interviews to determine causes of turnover and develop appropriate responses to any issue discovered.
May be responsible for safety initiatives, including the investigation and analysis of accidents, the completion and submission of periodic stat and federal EPA reports and preparation of operating permits.
Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (refers to job, not incumbent):
Education:
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business or a related subject, or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or Business.
Required Certification: SHRM Certification (SPHR) preferred.
Experience:
Minimum: 5 years of professional/managerial human resources experience.
Preferred: Demonstrated expertise providing consultation to all levels of employees and management on a wide variety of people issues.
Special Skills Required:
Working knowledge of all human resource related acts, agencies, and employment laws.
1-3 years of experience working in a unionized manufacturing facility.
Demonstrated skill handling issues involving high levels of sensitivity, confidentiality, and/or legal exposure.
The ability to persuade and influence, establish personal credibility, and foster collaborative working relationships.
Strong communication, listening, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve non-routine and complex human resources issues.
Proficient with spreadsheet and word processing applications.
