Expected Results
The general responsibility of the Paper Machine Supervisor is to lead and support a work group of approximately thirteen hourly employees working a swing shift rotation in the machine room.
Ensure equipment reliability, uptime, quality, and product availability are maximized to support the mill operations and customer needs.
Provide a safe environment for all employees and deliver safety performance results.
Supporting Activities
Provide clear direction and vision, build effective teams, ensure safe working conditions, focus on customer needs, and practice sound business management.
Monitoring and evaluating employees’ job performance and providing coaching and corrective action as needed in order to ensure safety, environmental, productivity, quality, cost, and lean manufacturing initiatives are achieved.
Leading safety activities including one-on-one safety discussions, condition monitoring, housekeeping and safety inspections, safety meetings, accident investigations, near miss reporting, and development of job safety analyses.
Responsible for troubleshooting and resolving product quality and equipment problems utilizing hourly personnel, maintenance employees, and other department/mill resources.
Demonstrate and cultivate company Cultural Beliefs.
Required Prior Accomplishments - Experience - Skills
A basic understanding of paper manufacturing to include wet and dry end operations is preferred.
2-5 years demonstrated leadership experience preferably in a union manufacturing environment. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
A technical background in paper manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, or a technical degree is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting/environment.
Ability to work any shift (swing).
Evidence of required management leadership competencies (Listening, Managing and Measuring Work, Managing Vision and Purpose, Developing Direct Reports and Others, Dealing with Ambiguity, Problem Solving/Decision Quality).
Qualifications MUST Have a BS Degree, prefer engineering degree and 2-5 yrs in supervisory role, ideally in paper manufacturing industry
